Fossilized Clam

Sale price$15.00 USD Regular price$30.00 USD

Bivalves are common fossils in all rocks of the Phanerozoic age - approximated 541 million years ago. They belong in the class Bivalvia in the phylum Mollusca and are among the oldest hard fossils. It is believed that a permanent change in the ocean or atmospheric chemistry made it possible for organisms to secrete hard shells of calcium carbonate. Their unique color comes from copper substrates that were created towards the end of their fossilization.

You will receive ONE fossilized clam found in Morocco.

Each clam is approx 2" x 1.5". Each fossil is completely natural and free of dyes or synthetics. Each is one of a kind in size, shape, and coloring. Note that these things will vary from fossil to fossil. We promise to pick a beautiful stone just for you.
